PIGEON FORGE, TN-The Dollywood Company, led by famed entertainer
and owner Dolly Parton, has broken ground on a 300-room world class resort
here.
Parton made the announcement this morning for the 100-acre
resort, which will be located near DollyWood and is expected to open in 2015.
The resort is part of the company's plan to invest some $300 million over the
next 10 years in future developments for Dollywood properties to make it
"one of the biggest, most popular destinations in the whole country,"
according to Parton.
The resort, which will be managed by Gemstone, will be named
Dollywood's DreamMore Resort and will resemble "a place like the front
porch," according to Parton. With design features and decor elements that
celebrate the area's natural beauty, the resort includes an indoor and outdoor
resort pool complex, a spa, and a full-service farmhouse-style restaurant.
She added the company plans to build several DreamMore resorts
in the area eventually.
