New Chair of Destination Marketing Association International

Martha Sheridan, President and CEO of the Providence Warwick Convention and Visitors Bureau, has been elected chair of the Destination Marketing Association International (DMAI) board of directors.

As the global trade association for official destination marketing organizations (DMOs), DMAI's mission is to protect and advance the success of destination marketing worldwide.

"I am humbled and honored to serve as the chair for this outstanding association, as we mark the centennial year of building a connected and unified destination marketing industry," said Sheridan. "I look forward to working with my fellow DMAI members, and industry leaders at-large, to seize the opportunities in front of us and move our industry forward."

Sheridan has been a member of DMAI for nearly twenty years and has been actively involved in the organization's leadership, serving on the organization's education committee and chairing the technology committee. In addition to her current role with DMAI, Sheridan has held leadership positions with several local, regional and national organizations including the Rhode Island Hospitality and Tourism Association Education Foundation, Meeting Professionals International New England Chapter (MPINE) and the New England Society of Convention and Visitors Bureaus.

"DMAI is honored to have Martha lead our organization during this critical period," said Michael Gehrisch, President and CEO of DMAI. "This will be a year of honoring the past century and preparing for the next generation of destination marketing, tackling the challenges that lie ahead to increase the success of destinations and elevating the role of DMOs collectively worldwide."
