Wyndham
Hotel Group opened its newly constructed, 307-room Wyndham Istanbul
Petek, the second upscale Wyndham Hotels and Resorts® property in
Istanbul in just 6 months.
The opening of Wyndham Istanbul Petek adds to Wyndham Hotel Group’s growing presence in Turkey, becoming the 20th property in the country to fly a Wyndham Hotel Group brand flag. Currently, the company has properties open and operating under the Wyndham Hotels and Resorts, TRYP by Wyndham® and Ramada® brands. The first TRYP by Wyndham hotel opened in Istanbul in December 2012 and the latest addition to the Ramada brand in the country, the 395-room Ramada Resort Antalya Lara, opened its doors this week in the Turkish Riviera.
In addition to an established midscale and upscale presence, Wyndham Hotel Group announced plans to launch its Super 8® brand in Turkey through an exclusive development agreement with İlbak Turizm İşletmeleri Ve Yatirim A.Ş. A total of 20 Super 8 hotels are expected to open in the country over the next 10 years. With over 2,300 properties, the brand has more hotels than any other economy hotel chain in the world.
Located less than 10 kilometres from Istanbul’s Atatürk International Airport, accommodation at the five-star, 21-storey Wyndham Istanbul Petek includes 241 guest rooms and 27 suites, as well as 39 apartments designed for extended stays. The hotel also features extensive meeting space, including a 586-square-metre ballroom and 14 meeting rooms totalling over 1,970 square metres, as well as a large fitness suite and 500 parking spaces.
Dining options at the hotel range from a lobby bar to all-day dining and speciality restaurants, with the added convenience of 24-hour room service. Guests looking to relax and unwind can take advantage of the hotel’s 130-square-metre swimming pool and tranquil spa area with four treatment rooms, while those looking for retail therapy are able to browse a selection of exclusive retail outlets surrounding a piazza on the ground floor.
Owned and developed by Kilicbey Turizm Isletmeleri Insaat Sanayi ve Ticaret Anonim Sirketi, with design input from renowned architects Metex Design, the construction and opening of the hotel has created an estimated 200 jobs and drew upon craftsmanship from around the world, including bespoke glass chandeliers handmade in the Czech Republic.
“Istanbul is a dynamic city and a melting pot of culture and diversity, representing every aspect of Turkish life,” said Mehmet Buyukkidik, chairman of the board, Kilicbey Turizm Isletmeleri Insaat Sanayi ve Ticaret Anonim Sirketi. “We are extremely pleased to invest in this city through the opening of Wyndham Istanbul Petek and to work with the world’s largest hotel company to bring world-class service and best-in-class guest amenities to the country.”
