Flight searches to Brazil increase by over 500%

It may just have been a friendly – but it looks like England’s recent footie warm up in Brazil has whetted fans’ appetites for jetting off to the World Cup in Rio next summer.
Searches for flights to Brazil on Cheapflights.co.uk on Sunday 2 June between 6 – 11pm increased by almost 300 per cent, compared to the same period last week – reaching a peak increase of more than 533 per cent in the hour between 7 – 8pm in the lead up to the match

Roy’s Boys aren’t there yet, but it looks like England fans are in optimistic mood and checking out flight options ahead of the next round of qualifiers – with flight searches to Brazil peaking at over 500 per cent on those of the previous week,” said Cheapflights.co.uk spokesperson Ben Rosier.

It’s always worth checking out your options and booking early to get the best price – but if past history is anything to go by there may yet be turbulence en route to the World Cup, so buckle up if you’re booking now,” said Rosier.

It doesn’t have the glamour and beaches of Rio, but if you’re an England fan it’s probably worth checking out flights to Kharkiv first, where England face home team Ukraine on 10 September 2013. And while interest in Rio is increasing, the World Cup is still in silver place compared to the Olympics which saw searches for the next host Rio up more than 4,500 per cent during the London 2012 closing ceremony.
