Aéroports
de Paris sets up up a photovoltaic plant or "solar plant"
composed of 792 panels and covering a total surface area of 4,000 m2.
This ground solar power plant will ultimately produce 157 MWh of
electricity which will be injected directly into the Aéroports de
Paris network. This plant will mean savings of 7 tonnes of CO2 per
year.
"Aéroports de Paris aims at becoming an example in the field of sustainable development. Pro-active commitments have been made, with particular emphasis on an energy management drive rooted in the implementation of the "Grenelle de l'environnement". This new set-up, representative of our CSR policy, confirms our ambition to develop a lasting relationship in a high quality manner with our stakeholders", explained Didier Hamon, Environment and Sustainability Director at Aéroports de Paris. "The design work carried out in partnership with the Civil Aviation Authority led to the use of polycrystalline solar panels containing special glass to limit optical reflection", goes on Didier Hamon.
As part of its strategic plan for 2011-2015, Aéroports de Paris intends to reduce its CO2 emissions by 25% compared to 2009 and reach the goal of 15% renewable energy in its internal energy consumption..
Aéroports de Paris has already rolled out two wide-scale projects:

Aéroports de Paris has already rolled out two wide-scale projects:
- -
at Paris-Orly airport, the 2011 opening of a geothermal power
plant which covers all of the
terminals' heating requirements,
- -
at Paris-Charles de Gaulle airport, the 2012 opening of a
wood-fired power plant which should
cover 25% of its heating requirements.
The impact of these facilities is enhanced by a significant energy saving programme related to runway and terminal lighting, and IT equipment consumption. Aéroports de Paris' strategic plan for 2011-2015
