EGYPTAIR hosts IATA’s “Middle East & North Africa Aviation Day” in Sharm El-Sheikh



EGYPT’s flag carrier EGYPTAIR to host the regional conference – Middle East and North Africa (MENA ) Aviation Day – under the patronage of His Excellency Wael el-Maadawi, Egyptian Minister of Civil Aviation.
The conference will be attended by Capt. Tawfik Assi, Chairman and CEO of EGYPTAIR Holding Company, Mr. Tom Windmuller, IATA’s Corporate Secretary / Senior Vice President, Member & Government Relations; Mr. Abdul Wahab Teffaha, Secretary General of Arab Air Carriers Organization (AACO) and Mr. Hussein Dabbas, IATA’s Vice President, Middle East & North Africa (MENA)
Final preparations are underway to welcome more than 100 delegates to one of meetings for airlines , international and regional organizations, airports, government agencies, aviation suppliers and aircraft manufacturers, taking place in the Red Sea resort city of Sharm el-Sheikh and organized by the International Air Transportation Association (IATA) on April 22.
The conference titled: “Aviation, Together Towards Energizing the Future,” will shed light on the infrastructure challenges facing the industry, issue concerning air space; airport capacity; updating regulations; efficient use of technology; how to best leverage human capital in aviation, and how to overcome difficulties in recruitment and placement of local qualified human resources.
Noteworthy that air industry is one of the most vital sectors worldwide. In the past decade, airlines have witnessed several economic challenges that varied from political crisis, global economic recession, to natural disasters as well as high fuel prices. Despite all the challenges, aviation industry continues to improve. It was clear that throughout the Middle East, passengers and cargo growth in 2012 averaged 15%, by far the highest growth anywhere in the world. As a burgeoning region, the Middle East is changing the way the aviation sector conducts business – and is revolutionizing connectivity throughout the world.
Governments in Middle East & North Africa region have realized the importance and value of aviation and its contribution to their national economies.
