Benefited by the Chinese New Year festival, Macau International Airport (MIA) achieved the first peak season in 2013. During February, MIA handled over 390,000 passengers. The average daily passenger volume of February recorded over 13,000. A new daily record of over 19,000 passengers was reached on 15 February, which is the highest daily passenger volume in recent years. For the whole February, MIA recorded 25% and 21% increases in passenger volume and aircraft movement respectively as compared to the same period last year. Moreover, passengers of China, Taiwan and East Asia routes increased 38%, 9% and 28% respectively as compared to same period last year.
To provide a safe and comfortable environment for the passengers, the airport management company, ground handling service and airport security companies further encourage the front line staffs to keep consciousness of initiative service. Macau International Airport will continue renewing the airport facilities, to improve service quality as in line with the tourism policy of Macau SAR, work closely with the related entities, strive to launch new flight routes, provide more options and convenience to passengers. Meanwhile, MIA will continue cooperating with the airport operators to conduct the “One Travel with More Destinations from Macau” mission to support the development of local economy.
