In
the 2012 edition of the Carnaval International de Victoria, Germany
made its presence felt with a carnival delegationfrom Dusseldorf.
The Dusseldorf carnival’s
presence in Seychelles confirmed
that participation of
all the
best and most known carnivals parading
together alongside cultural troupes from
the Community of Nations.
Germany’s participation with a carnival float during the
parade was highlighted by
an incredible acrobatic display
from the Dusseldorf Carnival.
At
the 2013 edition of the Carnaval International de Victoria
in Seychelles, Germany was represented by a delegationput
together by the German Tour Operator DERTOUR of Frankfurt.
The
Vice President of the Dusseldorf Carnival Committee, Mr
Rolph Herpens who is back in Seychelles for his annual
holiday made time to call on Minister Alain St.Ange,
the Seychelles Minister responsible for Tourism and Culture
at his offices at the National Cultural Center in Victoria to confirm
the participation of the Dusseldorf Carnival team
in the 2014 edition of the “Carnaval International de Victoria’’
to be held between the 25th and 27th March 2014.
During
the meeting with Minister Alain St.Ange, the Seychelles Minister
for Tourism and Culture in the presence of the Principal Secretary of
Tourism, Mrs Sherin Renaud, the Principal Secretary of Culture, Ms
Benjamine Rose and the Chief Executive Officer of Seychelles Tourism
Board, Mrs Elsia Grandcourt, Mr Rolph Herpens confirmed that
theDusseldorf Carnival team would be present at the fourth
edition of Carnaval International de Victoria in 2014 as the new date
of the carnival in Seychelles does not clash with
the Dusseldorf carnival.
Minister
St.Ange has welcomed the news stating that the Seychelles Tourism
Board and the Ministry of
Tourism and Culture appreciates the working partnership
with and the support they are receiving from the Dusseldorf Carnival.
“Having
the Notting Hill Carnival delegation from London,
the Dusseldorf Carnival from Germany, the Brazil Carnival
group, the Carnival delegation from Italy and the Trinidad
& Tobago Carnival participate in the carnival in Seychelles is
such a positive endorsement for Seychelles. We now need to get
the Nice carnival from France and the Carnival from Nigeria and we
would have all the greats together” Minister St.Ange said.
To
portray the existing bond that Dusseldorf Carnival team has
with “Carnaval International de Victoria’’, the Vice President
of the Dusseldorf Carnival presented to Minister Alain
St.Ange of the Seychelles their Carnival book where
their participation at the Seychelles carnival is
well featured.
Minister
St.Ange was also presented with a Dusseldorf Carnival medal
as a token of appreciation for his close workingpartnership with
the Dusseldorf Carnival team.
A working group
will be put together to continue discussions with Dusseldorf Carnival
committee to finalise arrangements for their participation in
the 2014 edition of the “Carnaval International de Victoria”
