Kerala attracts women tourists

It's summer holidays once again, when people start their search for exploring their favorite tourist destinations to beat the heat. Not like in the past, this summer, Kerala is encouraging women travelers to discover new places and have newer experiences.

A women-friendly tourism project with the name She Trips has been started by the Responsible Tourism Mission under the Tourism department. It has curated more than 40 trips of women’s group to different picturesque locations in Kerala.

K. Rupeshkumar, Kerala RT Mission coordinator, said that as dissimilar to the earlier years, there has been a improved interest from worldwide women to travel on their own, both in terms of group and solo travel. To declare the State as the first women-friendly place in India, Kerala has an ambitious plan to launch, he says.

The RT Mission, as part of the project, has kick-started working on developing a women-friendly tourism group with women travellers and entrepreneurs. A network of 1.5 lakh women, comprising entrepreneurs and travellers will be built. To attain this, 1,280 women guides have been trained completely. In the forthcoming days, training will be given to more women. Under the RT Mission, these women groups have been curating special trips for women to different places, providing an unforgettable experience for the travellers. The cautiously curated tours will be “a win-win situation” as well, both for the women travellers as well as the stakeholders.
