What a difference three months can make! Travel is starting open up; vaccination programmes across the EU and UK mean that travellers can move around more easily and the launch of the EU Digital Covid Certificate and the UK’s vaccination certificate programmes are helping to support this. Not only that but GBTA now has a new Board of Directors, congratulations to all of the successful candidates, in particular Jens Liltorp who was elected as European Regional Director.
As you may know I stood as a candidate for the Vice President position and am hugely honoured that I was successful in that and promise to represent you all and work hard for the interests of all members of GBTA across the globe. This change does however mean that there is a vacancy for the role of Chair of the European Advisory Board. In the interests of fairness and transparency we are asking for applications for this role, which will be judged by a quorum made up of European volunteers.
The timeline is as follows:
• 9 Aug – call for applications opens
• 24 Sept – applications close
• 27 Sept – Eligible candidates sent to quorum for review
• 4 Oct – Shortlisted candidates identified
• 11-15 Oct – Candidate interviews
• 22 Oct – successful candidate informed
• 12 Nov – New chair announced and onboarded
• 6 Dec - Official handover at conference

Don’t forget to mark the dates for our European conference. GBTA Conference 2021 - Berlin in Partnership with VDR will be taking place 6-8 December and registration will be opening on 1 September. I can’t wait. Hopefully I will see many of you there.
