King balcony suite at The Ivey Hotel in Charlotte, NCς |
CHARLOTTE, NC—The Ivey Hotel, owned by The MRK Hotel Collection, has opened here in the Uptown neighborhood. There are 42 guestrooms, a cocktail lounge, private meeting and event space and a library lounge exclusive to guests of the hotel.
The building was originally Ivey's Department Store built in the early 1900s. The hotel underwent a multimillion-dollar renovation in the last two years and is over 38,000 sq. ft.
The rooms feature 400-year-old reclaimed French oak floors, exposed brick, custom-designed lighting fixtures and furnishings by Nick Allen, Frette Italian bedding alongside a curated art collection throughout the hotel. Rooms also have free WiFi, Sony 4K televisions, Bose sound systems, iHome docking stations, and Lutron lighting.
All rooms are decorated with modern furniture as well as antiques and no two rooms are the same.
The hotel is also home to two new food and beverage concepts. Sophia's Lounge will have crafted cocktails and small bites with opulent furnishings and lighting provided by chandeliers. The menu is created by Top Chef alum and executive chef Jamie Lynch with cocktails by mixologist Patricia Smith. 5Church Charlotte is located at the intersection of 5th and Church streets. It will also feature a menu by Chef Jamie Lynch.
This is the third property for The MRK Collection. The company's two other hotels are the Windsor Boutique Hotel in Asheville, NC and The Marlin Hotel in South Beach, FL.
