SAN FRANCISCO—The Galleria Park Hotel has revealed plans for a renovation. The Joie de Vivre property here in the financial district underwent a $4-million restoration four years ago. Now, the property is slated to undergo a top-to-bottom renovation and redesign led by San Francisco-based BAMO. The new design is inspired by the Art Deco bones from the building.
A phased renovation of all 177 guestrooms, including eight suites will be completed in late June. All group meeting and event space, along with the lobby and mezzanine will be unveiled in early 2018. Guestrooms will have custom furnishings, a palette of neutrals and eclectic accents. The bathrooms will continue the design scheme with gray Paul Klee-inspired mosaic tile and include textured ebony wood, white surfaces, and windows flooding natural light. Throughout the entire property, elements of the original building are restored—from the elevator banks, to the 1900s-era marble staircase, and original cast iron railing that runs the height of the building.
The renovation will also include two new spaces: the mezzanine and back-bar. On the lobby level, a closeted back-bar will open to reveal a "jewel box" of a crystalline bar where daily "Martini Hour" will be held, nodding to the hotel's role in the birth of the classic cocktail.
