Are you planning for a vacation anytime soon? This time, be a responsible traveller. With looming global warming and intense rise in pollution worldwide, we all need to be responsible humans and care for our mountains, beaches, hills and every bit of air we breathe. Try to walk more than before. Do not forget to carry your own bag while shopping and say no to plastic. Here’s take a look at few tips shared by Aloke Bajpai, Co-founder at ixigo and Narayan Menon, Co-founder at Wandertrails, on how one can save the environment while travelling:
* Say no to vehicle roads: Discover a new city by walking. For example, the Mall Road in Shimla or the Cinque Terre in the Italian Riveria and Giethoorn village in Netherlands. These are some of the places where vehicles are not allowed.
* Avoid plastic bags: Please make sure to carry your own bags, if one is travelling in any of the Indian hill stations. Remember, one won’t be getting any plastic bag even to carry food items here!
* Say no to smoking while traveling: World cities like Beijing, Chandigarh, Chennai, Liverpool and Mexico will not permit travelers to smoke which means that one have to leave his/her cigarette case back home. These cities have become no-smoking zones of the world.
Besides, going for green transportation, choosing eco-friendly dwellings, eat local, buy local and last but not the least, plant a tree wherever you go are the other pointers to keep in mind.
