NEW YORK - Questex Travel Group opened its third annual Latin America Meeting and Incentive Travel Exchange (LAMITE) in La Antigua Guatemala.
The first and only event of its kind, LAMITE, held in partnership with the Society for Incentive Travel Excellence (SITE), brings together top-producing, Latin America-based meeting planners and incentive buyers with leading global suppliers for two and a half days of exclusive networking opportunities and prescheduled one-to-one private appointments.
Buyers were welcomed Monday evening with a networking reception and lavish dinner hosted by the Casa Santo Domingo Hotel. Then on Tuesday they were treated to a Guatemalan heritage tour outside La Antigua including native markets, crafts and art, ending for lunch at the La Reunion Golf Resort & Residences at the base of a volcano for stunning views while dining.
Throughout the day, participating suppliers arrived from all over the globe to set up their private meeting spaces. The evening was capped off with an amazing welcome reception for all attendees at the San Jose El Viejo Ruins which included authentic Guatemalan cuisine, dancing and music and hosted by INGUAT-the Guatemala Tourism Board.
The event officially opened Wednesday morning with an educational session presented by MICE industry veteran Eduardo Chaillo, CMP, CMM, CASE, from Global Meetings and Tourism Specialists, followed by a day of pre-scheduled, private one-to-one appointments between buyers and suppliers.
“This is the ideal venue for global suppliers looking to grow their MICE business in the Latin American marketplace and the only one to bring those suppliers to the buyers based there,” said John McMahon, executive vice president of Questex Travel Group. “Plus, no other organizer offers the private, one-to-one meeting concept other than Questex, which offers optimal networking and relationship building opportunities.”
