Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) announced last Friday that Bud Darr, senior vice president, technical and regulatory affairs, will be leaving CLIA to assume a new role with MSC Group as Executive Vice President, Maritime Policy and Government Affairs.

“Bud has been with CLIA for over six years and has been instrumental in helping build a solid foundation of knowledge, support and respect for the cruise industry in the areas of technical and regulatory affairs,” said Cindy D’Aoust, president and CEO, CLIA. “Together, with CLIA, I thank Bud for his significant contributions to our industry and in congratulating him on this new role.”

Until his departure, Darr will be actively involved in ensuring an effective transition at CLIA. In his new role, he will hold global responsibilities for the Group’s different business interests, including the cargo, container terminal, and cruise divisions. Establishing and developing a central Government Affairs function at the Group’s headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland, will be among his key priorities.
