Today, IBM has announced that American Airlines would be utilizing the IBM Cloud as a firm foundation for ushering in a massive cloud transformation aimed to make internal procedures smarter, easier and more convenient for usage especially while dealing with traffic during high volume periods.

It builds on the cloud partnership that the company had signed with IBM in 2016.

It plans to migrate a certain part of its complex applications like aa.com that is its customer-facing mobile app to IBM Cloud. Furthermore, it also would attempt to move other tools and workload to the IBM Cloud processes.

Daniel Henry, American’s Vice President, Customer Technology and Enterprise Architecture mentioned that by opting for the appropriate cloud partner for American Airlines, they want to make sure that the provider would be a champion of Cloud Foundry and open-source technologies.

Their aim is to ensure that they do not get clogged by proprietary solutions.

As part of this partnership, IBM seeks to collaborate with American to move critical applications to the IBM Cloud. Also, these two brands would team up to rewrite these applications to the IBM Cloud Platform as a Service (PaaS) and form a cloud-native architecture.

IBM Cloud would let customers quickly build and alter application functionalities for the customers of this airliner.

David Kenny who is the Senior Vice President, IBM Watson and Cloud Platform said that American Airlines has started embracing IBM Cloud as a business facilitator as an effectual means to improve customer experiences.
