In the last four years, the Pakistani Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb confessed that tourism, sports and cultural activities are going through a massive upsurge as a result of improved security situation in the country.
She said today while addressing a seminar on “Bio Diversity and Sustainable Tourism” in Islamabad that there is an intense relation between ecosystem and tourism. She also mentioned that countries like India, Malaysia and United Kingdom are utilizing their natural resources to attract maximum tourists.
She further adds that national parks in Pakistan have contributed a lot towards the development of their tourism sector.
The Minister explains that Pakistan equally has a very rich and varied landscape which can play a significant role to contribute the enhancement of the GDP of the country. She added that a probable proposal is under scrutinization to declare Astola Island a Marine Protected Area. If, this successfully taken, it will be an important milestone in endorsing tourist activities on the Island, the minister said. Marriyum Aurangzeb emphasized the urgency for increasing awareness amongst the locals about the diverse bio-diversity of the country. Stakeholders should help Radio Pakistan and Pakistan Television Network in showcasing the real picture of the country on this pretext as the minister said.
