The U.S. Travel Association on Wednesday announced that it has added new Senior Director of Government Relations Lorraine Howerton to its public affairs team. Howerton will focus on federal aviation policy, airport financing and the Transportation Security Administration (TSA).
Howerton has over 25 years of experience in federal and state legislative public policy issues, having previously worked at the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association, National Fish and Wildlife Foundation, Air Transport Association (now Airlines for America), U.S. Department of Transportation and U.S. House of Representatives.
“As U.S. Travel pursues a national aviation agenda that is pro-competition, pro-growth and pro-traveler, Lorraine is singularly well-equipped to advance those ideals with key policymakers,” said U.S. Travel Association President and CEO Roger Dow. “We were able to add her phenomenal experience and expertise at a critical time, as FAA reauthorization presents an invaluable opportunity to address the issues in our aviation sphere in a comprehensive way—including fixing our air travel infrastructure and cutting taxes on flyers. I am excited about what Lorraine will be able to achieve on behalf of travelers.”
