What could be more fun than driving a Porsche through the Black Forest, which has some of the loveliest scenery, best hotels and gastronomic restaurants in Germany. TourCrafters, the experienced tour operator, has designed a 3-day/2-night Dream Package that is a great extension to any of its other European trips.
The package costs $3,590, land only, and includes an arrival transfer, a 3-day Porsche rental (911 coupe or convertible), gas for the car, two nights at the Hotel Ritter, a 10 euro voucher for treatments in the Ritter’s spa, a wine tasting, daily breakfast, two 4-course dinners, two lunches, three coffee breaks with pastries, a special touring book and a tour guide. Departures in June are on Tuesdays (2,16,30) and Fridays (12,19), in July on Friday (10) and in September on Tuesdays (9,15) and one Friday (4). A one-day tour is available for $1,490 on the same dates. And other deluxe cars are available on request: Ferrari, Lamborghini, Mercedes, etc.
The Tradition-Hotel Ritter in Durbach is a design hotel that features supremely comfortable contemporary rooms, three celebrated gourmet restaurants and an enormous spa with pampering facial and body treatments.
On Day 1 you’ll be picked up at your Stuttgart hotel and taken to Motorworld Center to get your car. There’s a short trip on a no-speed-limit autobahn, then a slower drive on the winding, hilly and spectacularly beautiful roads of the Black Forest to the Sattelei Hiking Hut near Baiersbronn for lunch. Afterward you can continue to the Hotel Ritter or even slip across the border into France. Then it’s dinner in either the 150-year-old elegant Ritter Stube or the cozy Ritter Keller.
On Day 2 you can check out some of the wineries on the Baden Wine Route (the hotel can give you names) or visit Triberg, a picturesque town famed for its cuckoo clocks and Germany’s highest waterfall. Lunch on your own along the road and dinner at either the hotel or Schloss Staufenberg.
Day 3 means a trip to the beautiful spa town of Baden Baden, lunch at Eberstein Castle and a visit to the ruins of the medieval Hirsau Monastery. Note that each day there’s a coffee break with delicious Black Forest pastries. And finally, a return to Motorworld and the end of the trip.
