Australia’s leading resort operator, Mantra Group, is leading the way with cruise industry business having developed a comprehensive national program of land packages to cater for cruise passenger clients.
Mantra Group is the only hotel and resort group to be a member of Cruise Down Under Australia - the governing body of cruising in Australia - on a national level, and since implementing the program in March 2013 has seen over 3000 room nights generated from cruise companies such as Carnival, P&O, Holland America, Seabourn, Inchcape, Intercruise and National Geographic Linbald from a global mix of passengers from USA, Germany, UK, Canada, Spain and France.
Recognising the need to focus extra resources on this sector, Mantra Group appointed Judd Rabbidge as dedicated Business Development Manager for the Cruise sector:
“The cruising sector is worth over $2.7 billion to the Australian economy and cruising has grown 20% year on year in Australia since 2007,” says Rabbidge.
“Australia's busiest summer cruise season is about to start with around 600 port visits scheduled to our shores resulting in a growing need for pre and post accommodation options for cruise passengers and crew.”
The program involves over 50 of the Group’s Peppers, Mantra and BreakFree hotels and resorts across Australia’s coastline providing pre and post itineraries, day trips and accommodation packages for cruise clients looking to explore beyond the ship’s docking point.
Mantra Group is also looking to expand its cruise offering to its properties in New Zealand in 2014.
