Newly
announced changes to Instagram's terms and conditions give
the rights to all images uploaded. Moreover, it allows Instagram to
use them for commercial purposes without identification.
According
to Jeffrey Chester, executive director for the Center for Digital
Democracy, that may let advertisers use
teenagers’ photos for marketing,
raising privacy and security concerns.
Instagram's
new policies, which now apply to users as young as 13, enable the
site to use members’ names, text, photos and other
content with marketing messages, will take effect next
month. "It could be exploitative," Chester added.
