The 8th annual AsiaSpa Awards honour the 2012 winners

A blockbuster premiere in Hollywood could not have sparkled more than the eighth annual AsiaSpa Awards, held last night on November 15 at the W Hong Kong.

The much-anticipated evening, which celebrated the industry's best in 24 categories, was bedazzled in an "Old Hollywood Glamour" theme. Nominees, industry insiders, and honoured guests alike were decked out in their finest, and would have fit right in on the set of Gentlemen Prefer Blondes.

Over 350 luxury spa professionals mingled at the swanky W Hong Kong, and toasted the spas, hotel and resorts, retreats, academies, personalities and products that have excelled in their intensely competitive fields, and stood out from among their equally impressive peers.

The categories paid homage not only to achievements in luxury standards, but also to innovation, ecological awareness, and exceeding the benchmark in spa training. COMO Shambhala Estate in Bali, Indonesia took home Destination Spa of the Year, Pevonia Botanica was awarded Spa Product Line of the Year, and Banyan Tree boasted not one but two awards at the end of the night. Banyan Tree Spa Marina Bay Sands in Singapore was recognised as Urban Spa of the Year, and Banyan Tree Spa Academy in Phuket, Thailand received In-Spa Training of the Year.

"2012 has been a very interesting year for the spa industry, with many new brands and spa additions," says Vivienne Tang, Editor-in-Chief of AsiaSpa magazine. "We've never received so many nomination entries like we did this year, and it has been a truly thrilling experience to see who eventually took home an award."

The beautiful trophies were provided by Baccarat with additional event sponsorship by Thalissi, W Hong Kong, Alissi Brontë, Phytocéane, Acantha and Hedonist. AsiaSpa would like to extend a special thanks to the W Hong Kong for hosting this year's Awards.
