Moscow authorities planned
to introduce the so-called guest tourist card in the capital in
November last year. It allowstourists to visit museums, to use
the services of public transport, to get discounts in hotels,
places of entertainment (restaurants, movie theaters, etc.). When
announcing the project, Moscow authorities stressed
the necessity to achieve an agreement with museums and other
commercial organizations. The project was planned to be launched in
April this year, but the tourist cards have not appeared.
Guest
cards were launched in St. Petersburg in late 2010. By the way, the
project didn’t start working immediately in the northern capital.
In 1998, the museums were not yet ready to let tourists on
a single ticket. This project started to work only in the end of
2011, when the agreement was achieved with four major museums. More
than 800 tourist cards were sold during eight months in St.
Petersburg. This number is more than number of cards sold in
Barcelona for 12 months (734 cards).
