EUROCONTROL: Network Performance Plan 2025 - 2029

 

This document contains the Network Performance Plan (NPP) for Reference Period 4 (RP4) 2025-2029, and has been approved through the Commission Decision (EU) 2025/1780 of 9 September 2025.

The Network Performance Plan (NPP) is, together with the Network Strategy Plan and the Network Operations Plan, a cornerstone instrument under the SES policy to ensure a functional European aviation network.

EASA published new Revision of Easy Access Rules for Continuing Airworthiness

 The European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) has published a newRevision of the Easy Access Rules for Continuing Airworthiness (EAR for CAW).

Revision from September 2025 of the EAR for CAW includes Corrigendum II to ED Decision 2023/019/R, as regards the review of Part-66 and the introduction of new training methods and new teaching technologies.

EUROCONTROL and EASA reinforce environmental transparency with AVENIR Working Group Reports handover

 

EUROCONTROL has formally handed over the final reports of the AVENIR (Aviation Environmental Reporting) Working Group to the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA). The handover was carried out by Tânia Cardoso Simões, EUROCONTROL's Director of Aviation Transformation, and received by Maria Nieves Rueda Garcia, EASA’s Director for Safety Management, Sustainability and Global Outreach.

U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean P. Duffy  announced that the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has signed an agreement with Nashua Community College to become the next school for the Enhanced Air Traffic–Collegiate Training Initiative (E-CTI). This is the 5th new CTI program to be announced this year as part of Secretary Duffy’s mission to recruit the next generation of air traffic controllers.

Air traffic in Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) grew 3.4% in June

 

In June 2025, air traffic in Latin America and the Caribbean reached 38.3 million passengers, marking a 3.4% year-over-year increase, equivalent to 1.3 million additional travelers. This represents an acceleration of 0.8 percentage points compared to the growth recorded in May. The region’s overall performance was largely driven by LAC-based airlines, which, according to IATA’s latest report, posted the highest traffic growth globally in June (+7.9%)[1].

Air traffic in the European network in summer 2025

 

With close to 37,000 flights expected on peak days, traffic in Europe is back to pre-pandemic levels. Yet this volume of traffic is being handled through only 80% of the airspace that was available before Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. Traffic remains very unevenly distributed, with air navigation service providers (ANSPs) in the South-West, South-East and Central Europe facing 30-40% more flights than in 2019.
