The new itinerary, which will launch starting in August 2027, will start in Medellín before making its way to the Andean landscapes of San AgustÃn, the remote island of Providencia (which has one of the largest barrier reefs in the world), and more, the company shared with Travel + Leisure. The journey will end in Antigua, Guatemala, where guests will enjoy private dining experiences, sample rum, and hike across Pacaya’s black volcanic terrain.
Each day, highlights include visits to remote jungles, snorkeling, swimming in natural crystal-clear pools, visiting historical sites like the ruins of Uaxactún, and more.
“Dr. Jones immerses guests in landscapes and communities that remain deeply connected to local traditions, culture and history—places still shaped by the people who live there,” Patrick Woodhead, the co-founder and CEO of White Desert, said in a statement shared with T+L. “From the vast openness of Colombia to the dense living cultures of Guatemala; from jungle to savanna; river to reef; from ancient worlds to those still unfolding today. This is not about ticking destinations off a list. It’s about entering them deeply—and leaving changed by what you were allowed to see and experience.”

The group, which specializes in "private flights to hidden destinations," utilizes its own fleet to bring travelers to hard-to-reach airstrips. Passengers on the journey will be transported to the past thanks to a 12-seater 1940s DC-3 airplane, which has been restored through a $10 million conversion and been specially equipped to “land on remote and uneven airfields.”
Specific pricing data for the new itineraries was not immediately available.
This is the latest tour for the luxury operator, a brand within White Desert Antarctica, which specializes in off-the-beaten path adventures. The firm is also a winner of a 2025 Global Vision Award from T+L, which recognizes industry leaders for sustainable travel. Dr. Jones also offers a 12-day Peru to Patagonia tour complete with hikes through an ancient cloud forest, pisco tastings, a hot air balloon ride, and more.
In addition to this itinerary, White Desert operates remote camps in Antarctica, flying guests from Cape Town and offering the chance to sleep on the Seventh Continent while exploring penguin colonies, going on glacier hikes, and even visiting the South Pole.
