LOT Polish Airlines kicked off its new destination to the heart of northern Portugal. Direct flights to Porto are now ready for takeoff

  On May 25, 2026, LOT Polish Airlines launched flights on the Warsaw – Porto route. 
• The route will be operated year-round: five times a week during the summer season and four times a week in winter.

Popular Western European destinations have become a well-established part of the national carrier’s regular flight schedule. These destinations attract particular attention during the summer season, when long-awaited holidays and dream family vacations finally become real journeys. The newly launched Porto service, inaugurated on May 25, perfectly reflects this trend.

During the summer season, flights on the WAW–OPO route will operate five times a week – every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday. LOT Polish Airlines aircraft will depart from Warsaw Chopin Airport at 10:20 a.m., while return flights will operate on the same days at 2:25 p.m. Flight time to Porto will be approximately 4 hours and 5 minutes, while the return leg to Warsaw will take around 3 hours and 45 minutes.

Portugal has long remained one of Europe’s most attractive travel destinations, while Porto perfectly complements LOT Polish Airlines’s portfolio of city break and leisure travel destinations. In 2025, the passenger seat factor on flights to Lisbon exceeded 86%, reflecting very strong performance. The new route will also contribute to the further development of tourism and business relations between Poland and Portugal. As LOT Polish Airlines continues to expand its route network, the airline remains committed to providing passengers with comfortable and convenient travel options to Europe’s key destinations. The city’s most enchanting side

For centuries, the true heart of Porto beat in Ribeira – a district where the lively buzz of marketplaces and merchants’ calls blended seamlessly with craftsmen’s workshops and the fishermen’s daily catch. Yet to truly experience the soul of Porto, it is worth wandering through the quieter, narrow side streets, where laundry lines stretch between the buildings and the less-restored, occasionally rugged walls transport visitors back to centuries past. Generations of local residents have lived here, preserving the authenticity and rich heritage of this remarkable place.

More than just historic landmarks

A visit to Porto is also the perfect opportunity to unwind on one of the region’s many wide, sandy beaches, accompanied by the soothing sound of Atlantic waves. Interestingly, these coastal spots remain relatively untouched by mass tourism, as they lie slightly away from the city’s main attractions.  This only adds to their charm, offering visitors an authentic and unspoiled atmosphere enjoyed mostly by locals.  

When the weather conditions are right, the Atlantic’s powerful waves attract water sports enthusiasts, especially surfers. The best conditions can be found at Matosinhos Beach, a favourite destination not only for surfing, but also for kitesurfing, windsurfing and SUP enthusiasts. You do not need to be a professional, however, to enjoy everything the ocean has to offer.  Known as a true hub for water sports, the area is home to numerous schools where experienced instructors guide visitors step by step through the basics of riding the Atlantic waves. And there is certainly no shortage of unforgettable experiences here!
