Our latest Moving the Menu report is out—and the news is not encouraging. Despite growing demand for plant-based options and clear environmental and ethical imperatives, the largest US restaurant chains continue to prioritize meat-heavy menus. A major transformation is urgently needed to protect animals, habitats, and the climate. While some chains have made small improvements—like removing surcharges on plant-based milks or maintaining existing vegetarian offerings—meaningful shifts to make plant-based foods the standard choice is largely absent across all cuisine categories. The overall pattern shows limited innovation and minimal commitment to reducing reliance on conventional animal-based ingredients despite the cruelty and devastation behind factory farming. These patterns are more than just disappointing—they are fueling climate change, perpetuating animal cruelty, threatening biodiversity, and undermining public health. At a time when consumers are demanding meaningful change for animals and the planet, too many restaurants are failing to meet the moment. It’s time to demand better. McDonald’s serves billions of meals every day, yet plant-based options remain largely absent from its US menu. Relying on mega-meat suppliers like JBS is unsustainable and unacceptable. Tell McDonald’s to make plant-based meals permanent, visible, and widely available across all US locations. This would be a huge step toward a more humane, sustainable, and healthy food system.

Animals and the planet can’t wait. Together, we must shift the US restaurant industry toward menus that are better for people, animals, and the planet. Thank you for helping us make change for animals, |
