PROMPERÚ launches AI travel assistant on Peru.travel

 

LIMA, PERU – PROMPERÚ, Peru’s tourism promotion agency, has launched an AI-powered virtual travel planning assistant integrated into its official tourism portal, Peru.travel, as part of its digital transformation and innovation strategy.

The new tool was developed using technology provided by Mindtrip and uses artificial intelligence to offer personalised travel recommendations and improve the user experience on the national tourism platform.

With this move, Peru becomes the first country in South America to incorporate an official conversational AI tool into its national tourism platform, positioning the destination within a broader digital and innovation-focused tourism strategy.

The assistant is currently in its initial phase, with further enhancements planned. At this stage, it allows real-time interaction, provides recommendations based on users’ interests, facilitates access to reliable information and supports decision-making throughout the travel planning process.

According to the announcement, the tool is also intended to support one of the tourism sector’s priority areas: diversifying demand. By drawing attention to lesser-known destinations, new routes and authentic experiences, it aims to contribute to a more balanced distribution of visitors and create wider opportunities for regions across the country.

The solution combines artificial intelligence and data analytics to provide a dynamic and updated experience aligned with international tourism trends, while also supporting Peru’s international tourism positioning.

The launch event took place in Lima and brought together government authorities, tourism stakeholders and media representatives, who were given the opportunity to experience the platform directly.

The launch marks a new stage in the promotion of Peru through digital tools designed to support travel planning and destination discovery.
