Sail 250 New Orleans will take place May 27–June 1, 2026, with other port cities, including Norfolk, Baltimore, New York City, and Boston, joining the nationwide events afterward.
The six-day celebration will transform the Mississippi River waterfront into a spectacular showcase of tall ships, U.S. naval vessels, and maritime heritage. The international fleet will dock along the riverfront from the Crescent City Connection Bridge to the Poland Avenue Wharf, featuring the USCG Eagle, the only active square-rigged vessel in U.S. government service, alongside modern naval ships from Sweden, the U.K., the Netherlands, Argentina, Chile, Ecuador, Peru, Colombia, and Uruguay. Free daily deck tours will be available from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

Rear Adm. Calvin M. Foster, Deputy Commander, Naval Surface Force Atlantic, highlighted the Navy’s participation: “Sail 250 offers the U.S. Navy, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard a unique opportunity to connect with the American people and international partners, showcasing modern naval capabilities while honoring our historic relationship with communities.”
Beth Ann Branch, President and CEO of the Port of New Orleans, emphasized the economic and educational impact: “Hosting Sail 250 underscores the port’s vital role in maritime commerce and national security, while also celebrating Louisiana’s nautical heritage.”
The USO will welcome more than 2,000 service members with concerts, comedy nights, and pier-side events. “New Orleans extends its hospitality to every service member arriving for Sail 250,” said Colonel (Ret.) Jason Burkett, USO Executive Director.
Sail 250 New Orleans will include citywide celebrations: the Parade of Sail on May 27–28, riverfront fireworks on May 30, a Seafood Cookoff with live entertainment on May 31, and a Blessing of the Fleet on June 1.
Maritime-themed programming will also be offered at the National WWII Museum, The Historic New Orleans Collection, City Park, and the Audubon Nature Institute.
