Korean Air and Asiana employees come together for "We Run" charity race

(Seoul, April 14, 2025) — Korean Air and Asiana Airlines hosted "We Run," a joint charity running event, at the BMW Driving Center in Incheon on April 14. Sponsored by Boeing, the event brought together 1,500 employees from both airlines to foster unity ahead of their upcoming integration and to demonstrate their commitment to supporting local communities.

The event, which emphasized collaboration over competition, featured 5 km and 10 km courses along the circuit track. Participants included flight attendants and administrative staff from both airlines, alongside the well-known philanthropist and singer Sean.

One Team

In his opening remarks, Korean Air Vice Chairman Keehong Woo framed the initiative as a symbolic milestone in the ongoing integration process.

“Today’s run is not just about reaching the finish line, but about moving forward together as ‘One Team,’” said Keehong Woo, Vice Chairman of Korean Air. “When our employees come together with a collaborative mindset, it will elevate our standards of safety and service and support our ambition to become the world’s most loved airline.”

Boeing, a strategic partner for both carriers, supported the event as part of its continued commitment to the Korean aviation community.

"We congratulate Korean Air on successfully hosting the event, a meaningful reflection of unity and collaboration as the two airlines come together as one,” said Jeff Edwards, Boeing Vice President of Northeast Asia Sales & Marketing. “Supporting Korean Air beyond the skies is an important part of our commitment to the aviation community, and we are pleased to build on this partnership as the airline advances its vision for growth, innovation, and sustainability in the years ahead."

Giving back and global participation

The event also served as a fundraising platform for Make-A-Wish Korea, an organization dedicated to granting the wishes of children with critical illnesses. Based on the cumulative distance of 8,495 km covered by participants, a total of KRW 30 million was raised—equivalent to approximately KRW 3,500 per kilometer. To ensure inclusivity, the airlines implemented a "Virtual Run" option for employees unable to attend in person due to flight schedules. Crew members around the world participated by recording their runs on mobile applications, contributing their mileage to the collective total.
