New research from Booking.com for Business shows that 44% of business travellers are now using artificial intelligence tools to plan their journeys, reflecting a shift towards more automated and personalised travel management.
The study, based on a survey of more than 500 business travellers, found that AI tools are increasingly used to support multiple aspects of the travel booking process, from accommodation selection to itinerary planning and flight booking.
Organising itineraries was identified as another key use case, with 51% of respondents using AI to structure their travel schedules. AI-driven tools are being used as digital assistants to help travellers manage complex itineraries and maintain organisation while travelling.

Flight booking also ranked among the top uses of AI, with half of respondents stating they rely on AI platforms when arranging air travel. These tools are used to identify cost-effective routes and optimise flight schedules, supporting more efficient travel planning.
The research also highlighted a strong demand for personalisation. A total of 65% of participants indicated a preference for hotel locations that are closely aligned with meeting venues or lifestyle needs. In addition, 51% expressed a preference for specific airlines based on comfort levels or loyalty programmes.
Generational differences were also evident in travel priorities. Travellers aged 60 and above were more likely to prioritise hotel location, while those aged between 45 and 59 showed a stronger focus on airline preferences. Meanwhile, travellers aged 18 to 44 were more likely to prioritise ground transportation options.
The findings reflect an increasing integration of AI technologies into business travel workflows, particularly in areas where efficiency, personalisation, and time management are critical.
