Spain’s luxury tourist train, Al Andalus, managed by Renfe, is set to celebrate its 40th anniversary with an exciting new route that brings Madrid into the spotlight. Starting in spring 2026, the Spanish capital will mark either the starting point or the end destination of this exclusive journey for the very first time.
The 2026 itinerary retains its usual 7-day, 6-night format and expands to include destinations in Extremadura, Castilla-La Mancha, and the Community of Madrid, in addition to the traditional Andalusian stages.
The itinerary proposal will combine the heritage, gastronomy, and landscapes of the southern and inland Iberian Peninsula, with stops in cities and municipalities of great cultural and tourist interest such as Madrid, Aranjuez, Toledo, Cáceres, Mérida, Córdoba, Jerez, Cádiz, and Seville.
From one enclave to the next, travelers can enjoy unique visits such as the Royal Palace of Aranjuez, the windmills of Campo de Criptana, the Roman ruins of Mérida, the Mosque-Cathedral of Córdoba, or the equestrian show in Jerez.
This expansion not only brings the Al Ándalus train closer to new audiences but also reinforces its commitment to a sustainable, exclusive, and experiential rail tourism model. The new route allows travelers to discover the region from a different perspective, in an environment that combines history, comfort, and attention to detail.
With the addition of Madrid to its route, the Al Ándalus train enters a new phase that preserves its essence while opening the door to new landscapes and opportunities.
