The new agreements cover properties in Boston, Daytona, Orlando, Chicago,
New Smyrna Beach, Healdsburg, California, and the Poconos, reinforcing
Sonesta’s strategy of growing through flexible brand solutions in both urban
and leisure destinations.
Introduced in June 2023, MOD Collection by Sonesta was designed as a soft
brand available for franchising, enabling hotel owners to preserve each
property’s unique identity and local character while gaining access to
Sonesta’s commercial platform and the Sonesta Travel Pass loyalty
ecosystem. As of 2025, three MOD properties are already operating in North
America, including locations in Calgary, Houston, and Sonoma.
“We are bringing seven distinct, high-quality properties to the Sonesta portfolio, demonstrating our flexibility and our appeal to owners who want to maintain their hotel’s unique identity and local charm while benefiting from Sonesta’s robust commercial platform and award-winning guest loyalty program,” said Phil Hugh, Chief Development Officer at Sonesta. “Interest remains high – especially in our soft brands. These hotels are each exceptional in their own right, and we are confident they will thrive as part of our brand family.”
Keith Pierce, Sonesta’s Executive Vice
President and President of Franchise & Development, highlighted the
strategic value of the agreements across diverse destination types. “Sonesta is focused on our growth with exciting conversions that
elevate the guest experience and offer a variety of options for travelers
wherever they may be,” he said. “These MOD agreements,
which include a city center, a beach resort, and unique leisure destinations
like the Poconos, Orlando and wine country, are a prime example of that focus
in action.”
Pierce added that the additions strengthen MOD’s positioning within the
company’s domestic brand portfolio. “The addition of these seven hotels adds real
weight to MOD’s presence as a domestic brand of choice, further establishing
the soft brand within Sonesta’s portfolio,” he noted.
The properties are expected to begin transitioning to MOD Collection by
Sonesta in the coming months. Once integrated, guests will be able to earn and
redeem points through the Sonesta Travel Pass loyalty program, aligning the
hotels with Sonesta’s broader distribution, loyalty, and brand platform.
