Quieter and More Efficient
The Embraer 195-E2 uses 15% less fuel per flight and emits 34% less CO₂ per passenger compared to its smaller predecessor, the Embraer 190. It is also 63% quieter, helping to reduce noise pollution around airports. With a capacity of 136 passengers, the 195-E2 is the largest aircraft in the KLM Cityhopper fleet. KLM Cityhopper now operates 61 aircraft, serving 80 European destinations. The newest addition will begin service at the end of September.
Fleet Renewal
KLM is investing seven billion euros in fleet renewal over the coming years. For European routes, this includes not only the Embraer 195-E2 operated by KLM Cityhopper, but also Airbus A320neo and A321neo aircraft, ten of which have already been delivered. For intercontinental flights, KLM has recently added new Boeing 787s to its fleet. The first Airbus A350 is expected in 2026, followed by the introduction of A350F freighters in 2027.
