Ticket sales are now open for LOT’s newest destination. It’s the fourth Italian route designed for travellers drawn to Italy’s rich culture and flavours. LOT’s Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft will connect Warsaw and Bologna six times a week: flights will depart on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at 8:30 a.m., and on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays at 3:15 p.m. Return flights will operate on the same days at 11:40 a.m. and 6:25 p.m., respectively. Each flight will last 2 hours and 10 minutes, and the first departure is scheduled for 31 March 2026.

A city that inspired Europe
Set in the heart of northern Italy, Bologna is famed for its terracotta rooftops, expansive porticoes, and the oldest university in Europe. Since 1088, this historic city has welcomed brilliant minds such as Nicolaus Copernicus, Francesco Petrarch, and Giovanni Pico della Mirandola – thinkers whose ideas helped define European culture and science. Today, the University of Bologna is home to nearly 100,000 students from around the globe. Their presence brings the city’s medieval squares and narrow lanes to life with an exciting, vibrant buzz.
As Bologna’s intellectual and commercial life blossomed, so did its architecture. Around the city’s main square, Piazza Maggiore, rise elegant palaces that for centuries have played key roles in civic, trade, and cultural life: from the city hall to historic guildhalls and merchant mansions, now home to exhibitions and arts events. Presiding over the square is the towering Basilica of San Petronio – one of Italy’s largest Gothic churches. An integral part of Bologna’s skyline are its medieval towers, the most famous of which – the Asinelli and the Garisenda – have become symbols of the city.
The signature red colour of the local buildings comes from clay, the most widely available building material in the region which gives the city its trademark warmth and charm. Nearly 40 kilometres of porticoes line the streets of the old city centre, providing covered walkways that date back to the 12th century – originally hubs for gathering, trade, and lively debate. Today, recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, these porticoes still offer a unique way to explore the city – rain or shine.
