RYANAIR CONFIRMS WED NOV 12TH LAUNCH FOR 100% DIGITAL BOARDING PASSES

Ryanair, Europe’s No. 1 airline, today (Wed, 24 Sept) confirmed that it will move to 100% digital boarding passes from Wed Nov 12th instead of Monday Nov 3rd, ensuring a seamless transition for customers in the less busy travel period after the mid-term break.

Ryanair’s switch to 100% digital boarding passes means that from Nov 12th passengers will no longer be able download and print a physical paper boarding pass but will instead need to use the digital boarding pass generated in their “myRyanair” app during check-in to board their Ryanair flight.

This is the latest step in Ryanair’s industry leading digital transformation, having already rolled out several in-app features and initiatives to enhance its 206M+ customers’ travel experience (especially during disruption), including:

  • Order to Seat: Order food and drink from your phone and get served first.
  • Live Flight Information: Real-time updates on boarding, gates, and delays.
  • Direct Disruption Updates: Live notifications from Ryanair’s Operations Centre during disruption.

Almost 80% of Ryanair’s 206M+ passengers already use digital boarding passes. Ryanair’s move to 100% digital boarding passes from Nov 12th follows other key tickets industries (like festivals, music, and sport events) which have successfully switched to digital-only ticketing.

Ryanair CMO, Dara Brady, said:

“To ensure a seamless transition to 100% digital boarding passes for our customers, we will make the switch from Wed Nov 12th, which is traditionally a slightly quieter time for travel following the busy mid-term break period. Ryanair’s move to 100% digital boarding passes will mean a faster, smarter, and greener travel experience for our customers, streamlined through our best-in-class “myRyanair” app, where passengers will also benefit from helpful in-app features, like Order to Seat and live flight information.”
