Cluj Avram IancuInternational Airport, together with the Cluj County Council and LOT Polish Airlines, marked today the milestone of 2,000,000 passengers recorded since the beginning of 2025 — an important achievement reached nearly a month earlier than last year, when this number was registered at the end of August. This result reaffirms the airport’s strategic role within Romania’s and the region’s air transport network, while also reflecting the continued trust of both passengers and partners.
This is the seventh time in the airport’s history that this significant milestone has been reached, establishing a tradition of operational excellence and continuous growth. The anniversary event was attended by representatives from local authorities, partner institutions and organizations, media representatives, and LOT Polish Airlines, the event’s airline partner.
The two-millionth passenger arrived in Cluj-Napoca on LOT Polish Airlines flight LO651 from Warsaw. The lucky passenger was warmly welcomed upon arrival and rewardedwith a symbolic gift as a token of appreciation for choosing and trusting the airport’s services.

Currently, Cluj International Airport operates a route network of over 50 regular destinations across approximately 20 countries in Europe and the Middle East, along with seasonal charter flights to key tourist destinations. This connectivity actively contributes to attracting investment and boosting regional tourism.
Surpassing 2 million passengers in 2025 highlights the strong upward trend in air traffic and reaffirms Cluj Avram Iancu International Airport’s position as a regional leader among Romanian airports. Following a record-breaking first half of 2025 with significant growth compared to the previous year, July set another milestone: on July 29, 2025, the airport handled 13,760 passengers, the highest daily traffic ever recorded in July.
At the same time, Cluj International Airport is undertaking strategic investments to modernize infrastructure and expand operational capacity, aiming to sustain this growth and meet the increasing complexity of air traffic. Through these initiatives, the airport reinforces its commitment to remain a trusted partner for stakeholders, the local community, and its passengers.
