Travelodge is significantly expanding its UK footprint with the acquisition of 11 new hotel properties, reinforcing its position as one of the country’s leading budget hotel brands. These additions bring the group’s national portfolio closer to 600 locations, supporting its broader strategy for sustainable growth and estate optimisation.
Among the latest acquisitions are nine former Hotel Campanile hotels, contributing an extra 951 rooms to the network. Located in key urban hubs such as Birmingham, Bradford, Dartford, Leicester, Liverpool, Manchester, Northampton, Milton Keynes, and Swindon, five of these hotels will be owned outright, while the remaining four will operate under long-lease agreements.
In a separate move, the company has secured two more hotels through newly signed contracts in Bromsgrove and Wakefield. The Bromsgrove property, a 43-room hotel previously operated under the Ibis brand, has been leased for 25 years and is currently undergoing a full refurbishment. It is expected to reopen under the Travelodge brand by May.
The Wakefield hotel, which formerly operated as an independent property, will offer 74 rooms and is set to be rebranded and relaunched in August. This site will also be operated under a 25-year lease agreement and refurbished to meet Travelodge’s current design standards.
These developments closely follow the opening of a newly upgraded Travelodge in Bromley town centre, also previously part of the Ibis portfolio.
