Italy’s Leading Luxury Brand Sina Hotels Unveils Landmark Expansion of Milan’s Sina The Gray with New Spa, Panoramic Dining, and Elegant Guestrooms

Sina Hotels expands Sina The Gray in Milan with new luxury suites, a spa, and rooftop dining, marking a milestone in Italian hospitality excellence.

Sina Hotels, the prestigious family-owned Italian luxury hospitality group, is set to make its most ambitious move yet in Milan. The brand, which operates 11 iconic properties across Italy and is led by Bernabò Bocca, current president of Federalberghi, has announced a transformative expansion of its Milanese jewel, Sina The Gray. This stylish five-star property, nestled steps from the Duomo, is about to double in size and prominence following a successful €43 million bid to acquire and renovate the adjoining Galleria Ciro Fontana—currently housing offices of the Municipality of Milan.

Sina The Gray originally opened its doors in 2003, becoming the group’s second location in Milan just a stone’s throw from its first, Sina De La Ville. Now, with the acquisition of the historic neighboring structure, the hotel is set to expand its footprint by more than 21,500 square feet. This will elevate the property’s offering from 21 rooms and suites to over 52, many of which will showcase sweeping views of the nearby Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II—one of Milan’s most treasured landmarks.

Beyond increasing capacity, the ambitious project will introduce a comprehensive range of upscale amenities. Plans include a serene spa retreat with custom treatment suites, a cutting-edge fitness center, and a rooftop restaurant offering panoramic vistas of Milan’s skyline, alongside an exquisite menu inspired by regional Italian cuisine.

This expansion signifies more than just growth—it reflects a renewed vision for the future of Sina Hotels. With international interest in Italian hospitality on the rise, this development aligns with the company’s broader mission of strengthening its real estate portfolio while preserving the distinct character of each location. Founded in 1958 by Count Ernesto Bocca, Sina Hotels holds the distinction of being the longest-operating luxury hotel brand in Italy still managed by its founding family.

Each property in the Sina collection—ranging from Rome and Florence to Capri and Venice—embodies a deep-rooted aristocratic charm, showcasing refined Italian design and delivering authentic guest experiences rooted in local culture. Even its lesser-known destinations like Viareggio, Parma, and Turin offer a sense of timeless elegance that has become synonymous with the brand.

The Milan project is expected to break ground in January 2026, with an estimated completion in 2027. To ensure aesthetic continuity and architectural harmony, Sina Hotels has once again tapped renowned architect Guido Ciompi, the creative mind behind Sina The Gray itself as well as the award-winning Sina Centurion Palace in Venice and Sina Bernini Bristol in Rome.

Once the expanded Sina The Gray is unveiled, attention will turn to revamping the original building to match the design excellence of its new wing. This dual-phase transformation cements Sina Hotels’ ongoing commitment to innovation while staying true to its legacy of luxury and Italian craftsmanship.
