Hotel Council Aotearoa welcomes New Zealand’s new tourism funding, aiming to attract Australian visitors this fall with a fresh campaign and strategic promotions.
Hotel Council Aotearoa (HCA) is celebrating the recent announcement by New Zealand’s Prime Minister and the Minister of Tourism regarding the allocation of additional funds aimed at enticing Australian visitors this fall. This initiative, backed by a compelling new campaign slogan, seeks to boost tourist numbers during the cooler season.
HCA has played a pivotal role in shaping this initiative, thanks to the strategic insights provided by the Hotel Council Sales & Marketing Taskforce. This group, comprising top-tier sales and marketing leaders from a spectrum of national and local hotel chains, has been instrumental in steering the promotional efforts. In 2024 alone, privately-owned hotels in New Zealand poured over $300 million into sales promotions and commissions, demonstrating their commitment to invigorating the tourism sector.
With the introduction of this Australian-targeted promotional drive, competing hotels are expected to launch their own enticing offers, effectively leveraging the increased public investment to maximize impact.
Moreover, Hotel Council Aotearoa is advocating for regional authorities to engage more actively in these efforts, underscoring the importance of collaborative initiatives to substantially enhance the visitor economy across New Zealand.
