Melbourne Unveils Powerful Report on How Business Events Transform Communities and Drive Growth

Melbourne latest report reveals how business events fuel innovation, create jobs, boost economies, and leave lasting legacies for communities and industries.

The Melbourne Convention Bureau (MCB) has proudly introduced The Positive Impact of Business Events Report, a detailed analysis showcasing the transformative value that business events bring to Victoria.

From driving economic growth and fostering community connections to advancing education, trade, and investment, business events leave a lasting legacy. The report, enriched with case studies from Melbourne’s standout events over the last decade, highlights their far-reaching impact on the local economy and broader society.

During the Asia Pacific Incentives and Meetings Event (AIME) 2025 opening press conference, MCB Chief Executive Officer Julia Swanson emphasized key events that have defined Melbourne’s global reputation as a business events hub.

The report underscores how business events are more than just economic drivers—they serve as catalysts for innovation, knowledge sharing, and industry networking. By fostering collaboration and driving advancements across sectors, these events contribute to sustainable development and strengthen Melbourne’s position on the world stage.

In the past decade, MCB has successfully hosted 1,620 business events, generating a remarkable $2.34 billion in economic impact. These events have boosted local industries, filled 1.3 million hotel room nights, and welcomed 610,000 delegates to Victoria. Additionally, they’ve supported the creation of approximately 29,000 jobs across sectors such as hospitality, transportation, and event planning.

With such a profound contribution to Victoria’s economy and society, the report solidifies the importance of business events as a cornerstone of sustainable growth and innovation for Melbourne and beyond.
