International volunteer efforts in Sri Lanka
From November 11 to 16, Korean Air’s volunteer group, Yonhap Shinwoohoe, carried out a community development initiative in Cheddikulam, Sri Lanka, a village located 230 km from Colombo that faces ongoing water shortages. The group supported the construction of communal wells and sustainable water facilities to address the village’s water challenges. Additionally, they provided free meals services for local schoolchildren and children in the community.
Charity concert for seniors
On November 16, Korean Air’s in-house choir, KALMAN Singers, organized a charity concert at a senior welfare center in Gangseo District, Seoul. The choir performed a repertoire of ten heartwarming songs, including classics and contemporary pieces, creating an uplifting atmosphere for the senior residents.
Donation to Community Chest of Korea
In addition to volunteer activities, Hanjin Group, the parent company of Korean Air, donated KRW 2 billion to the Community Chest of Korea to support communities throughout Korea. Korean Air employees also participated in this meaningful effort through personal contributions.
Upcycled safety bag covers
In its latest community initiative, Korean Air donated 500 upcycled waterproof safety bag covers to Gangseo Fire Station on December 17. Made from recycled plastic bottles, the covers prominently display the number “30,” to remind drivers of the 30 km/h speed limit in child protection zones.
Korean Air employees contributed directly to the project by collecting plastic bottles through an internal campaign. Employees also assembled the covers during their lunch breaks, adding keychain accessories and packaging them into boxes.
Commitment to sustainability and community engagement
Currently, Korean Air operates 24 company volunteer groups that actively support welfare facilities across Korea and internationally, including care centers for children, individuals with disabilities, and seniors. Korean Air remains committed to fostering a sense of solidarity within communities through continuous volunteer efforts and meaningful support for local initiatives.
