MIAMI, USA, and LONDON, UK - Accelya, a global leader in airline technology, announces significant year-on-year New Distribution Capability (NDC) transaction growth in 2024. During the 2024 Black Friday to Travel Tuesday period NDC volumes increased by 19% vs the comparable period in 2023. Additionally, Accelya’s NDC corporate travel bookings (made through their network of Travel Management Companies) grew by 123% during the 2024 Black Friday to Travel Tuesday period compared with the previous year.
Airline partners also saw strong momentum with up to 40%+ year-on-year increase in NDC transactions on Black Friday. The significant increase in transaction volumes reflect NDC’s rising momentum as airlines look to seize the $45 billion retailing opportunity outlined in McKinsey’s latest research.
Sam Gilliland, CEO of Accelya, comments, “Our strong year-on-year momentum highlights how NDC is transforming the travel ecosystem for the better. At its core, NDC enhances the traveler experience by offering greater choice and options. It empowers airlines to take control of their retailing, delivering richer, more customized offers. Travel sellers, in turn, can provide a broader offering that drive higher conversion rates for ancillaries and foster competitive benefit.”
Accelya enables over 50% of global NDC transactions, and its FLX ONE platform generates over 30 billion unique offers daily, helping ecosystem partners support the growing scale delivered by NDC and modern retailing technologies. Launched in October this year as an evolution of Accelya’s proven FLX platform, the comprehensive FLX ONE platform providing the end-to-end journey from Offer, Order, Settle through Delivery enhancing traveler experiences at scale. Powered by Amazon Web Services, the platform combines cloud-native capabilities with deep retail expertise, helping airlines maximize performance during peak periods and beyond.
Sam Gilliland continued “Accelya is dedicated to empowering airlines, travel agencies, and TMCs to unlock growth through new revenue streams and retailing opportunities. As we move into 2025, we remain focused on delivering next-generation distribution strategies and modernizing airline retailing consistent with IATA standards. Travelers increasingly expect booking and managing a flight to be as effortless as using Amazon or Uber, and we’re committed to enabling that a reality for them and our partners.
