WILLEMSTAD – November 14, 2024 – The Curaçao Tourist Board is pleased to report a continued increase in stayover arrivals. The island experienced a solid 11% rise in arrivals compared to October 2023, welcoming an additional 5,419 stayover visitors. In total, Curaçao welcomed 53,234 stayover visitors in October 2024.
The fall break contributed significantly to this increase, particularly from Curaçao’s main market, the Netherlands, where a notable shift in visitor demographics included more families with children. Fridays and Saturdays were the busiest arrival days of the week in October, with each day contributing a significant portion of the total tourist arrivals by air.
Top 3 Source Markets in October
The Netherlands: Curaçao welcomed 20,114 visitors from the Netherlands, a 16% increase compared to 17,395 arrivals in October 2023. Most Dutch visitors (55%) chose non-resort accommodations, while 45% stayed at resorts. On average, Dutch visitors stayed for 10.7 nights during their visit.
United States of America: The USA remains a key market for Curaçao, with a 20% increase in arrivals, reaching 12,544 visitors in October 2024, up from 10,483 in the same month last year. Most American visitors (74%) preferred resort hotels, while 26% opted for other types of accommodations. On average, visitors from the USA stayed for 5.8 nights, with most travelers coming from New York, Florida, New Jersey, Texas, and Georgia.
Colombia: Visitor numbers from Colombia surged by 11% in October 2024, totaling 3,914 arrivals compared to 3,525 in October 2023. Colombian visitors stayed an average of 5.8 nights, with 52% choosing to stay in resort hotels.
Year-to-Date Highlights of 2024
Curaçao’s tourism industry shows solid stability in 2024, with the strategic effort to stay consistent in creating awareness in its main markets of focus. This growth highlights the island’s success in creating demand by showing its offerings to come “Feel it for yourself.”
So far, Curaçao has welcomed 566,827 stayover arrivals, 23,730 day-trippers, and 627,395 cruise passengers, totaling 1,217,952 arrivals from January through October 2024, a 23% increase compared to the same period last year.
