THE ANNOUNCEMENT. ICAO WEEK IN KAZAKHSTAN

From November 4 to 8, 2024, ICAO Week will be held for the first time in Kazakhstan, in the city of Almaty. As part of this event, regional awareness-raising seminars on risk assessment in conflict zones and "Green Airports" will be held.

Senior leaders from international civil aviation organizations will participate in the events, including the Regional Director of the ICAO European and North Atlantic Office, Nicholas Rallo.

The Conflict Zone Risk Assessment Workshop aims to provide States with best practices for risk assessment for civil aircraft flying over or near conflict zones. Given the unstable situations in the Middle East and Eastern Europe, as well as the need for constant analysis of the international situation, the seminar will be useful for all air carriers operating or planning flights to these areas.

At this site, international experts will share best practices in risk assessment, where they will also discuss existing problematic issues for decision-making, including the development of effective interagency coordination processes for assessing security risks.

The Green Airports seminar will be held under the auspices of ICAO together with ACI Europe with the support of the Ministry of Transport of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Civil Aviation Committee. The organizers are the Aviation Administration of Kazakhstan and Almaty International Airport.

The participants of the Green Airports workshop will have the opportunity to discuss areas related to the development of airports with low carbon dioxide emissions and environmental impact, with a special focus on environmentally friendly aviation fuel (SAF) and the use of other environmentally friendly energy sources, including innovations and solutions for the development of airport infrastructure and their energy transition.

The seminar is aimed at discussing key aspects of the sustainable development of airports and the introduction of environmentally friendly technologies into aviation infrastructure.

To participate in the Green Airports seminar, pre-registration is required, which will be available at the  (icao.int ) until September 15, 2024.
