In September, she will spend six days aboard the Bolette during the ‘Scenic Autumnal Norwegian Fjords’ cruise, bringing her three decades of TV experience to the journey.
Following this, in March 2025, Strachan will join the Bolette once again for its inaugural world voyage, ‘A Voyage of Exploration Around the World,’ in South Africa.
Stephanie Farrow, Itinerary Product and Destination Experience Manager at Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines, said:
“We are thrilled to be welcoming Michaela Strachan on board from 24th to 30th September as we sail to the beautiful Norwegian Fjords and from 29th March to 2ndApril 2025 when we arrive in stunning South Africa.
“We know that our guests truly value the opportunity to learn more about nature and what’s better than hearing about Michaela’s stories from behind the scenes of wildlife filmmaking?
“Alongside this, Michaela will be accompanying guests on tours including kayaking in Alesund, Norway, and in Cape Town to Boulders Beach to see the colony of penguins, the Cape of Good Hope to take in the unique flora and fauna and seek out the Big Five at Aquilla Game Reserve.”
Guests on the Norwegian Fjords cruise will have the opportunity to attend a talk on British wildlife. During the Cape Town stop, Michaela, who has volunteered with SANCCOB, the local seabird rescue center, will share her insights on penguin rescue and conservation.
Additionally, guests can book an exclusive lunch with Michaela and participate in a Q&A session while she is on board both cruises.
Michaela said:
“I’m really looking forward to joining the Norwegian Fjords cruise. I’ve sailed through the fjords a couple of times and it’s spectacular.
“As for joining the World Cruise as it sails into Cape Town, it’s where I’ve lived for the last 22 years, and I always get huge pleasure showing the sights off to guests.
“It’s known as the Mother City and people always sail away with a little bit of Cape Town in their hearts.”
The World Cruise offers guests the chance to explore iconic destinations, including Sydney’s Harbour and Opera House, the enigmatic Moai statues on Easter Island, and the vibrant rhythms of Samba in Rio de Janeiro and Argentine Tango in Buenos Aires, all while experiencing the stunning beauty of the Chilean Fjords.
In Norway, the cruise is perfectly timed to capture the landscapes as they are transformed into a vibrant autumn tapestry. Guests will visit the UNESCO-listed Geirangerfjord, marvel at the cascading Seven Sisters Waterfall, and have the opportunity to hike to the breathtaking Briksdal Glacier.
