LGBTQ+ TRAVEL GUIDE TO ARGENTINA Argentina is considered one of the most LGBTQ+ friendly destinations in South America. A pioneer in the region, it was the first on the continent to legalize same-sex marriage with full adoption rights in 2010 and the right to change legal gender has been in place since 2012.

Most of the big cities in Argentina have LGBTQ+ scenes, particularly Buenos Aires. Smaller cities like Cordoba and Mendoza are also popular among LGBTQ+ travelers, with Mendoza hosting an annual LGBTQ+ grape harvesting festival called Vendimia Para Todxs, and Puerto Madryn’s fast-track same-sex marriage ceremonies (the “Casamiento Express”) attract visitors from around the world. While some homophobia may prevail outside or even within the big cities, overall Argentina remains a welcoming destination for LGBTQ+ travelers.
