NEON Group Limited Announces Tokyo as Next Stop for Global Tour of Egyptian Exhibition

NEON Group Limited, in collaboration with the Egyptian Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, has announced that “Ramses and the Gold of the Pharaohs,” an immersive cultural IP experience, will be making its debut in Tokyo in Spring 2025. This experiential entertainment venture has captivated audiences with sold-out shows in cities like Houston, San Francisco, Paris, and Sydney since its global launch in 2021.

Set to open in Asia for the first time, the exhibition will be hosted at the Crevia Base Tokyo building, formerly known as IHI Stage Around Tokyo. This venue is undergoing a transformation into a premium entertainment space under the management of Itochu Property Development, Ltd., Sankei Building Co., Ltd., and NEON.

“Ramses and the Gold of the Pharaohs” provides a deep dive into the life and achievements of King Ramses II, also known as Ramses the Great, who is celebrated for his 67-year reign, one of the longest in Ancient Egyptian history. Living until the age of 92, Ramses II epitomized the grandeur of the New Kingdom era (1539-1075 BCE), a peak period of Egyptian civilization. As a formidable warrior and peace negotiator, he was instrumental in the construction of numerous monumental edifices.

The exhibition showcases over 180 invaluable artifacts, including animal mummies, stunning jewelry, royal masks, and amulets, many being displayed outside of Egypt for the first time. Additionally, visitors can enjoy a virtual reality tour of Ramses’ significant monuments, such as the Tomb of Queen Nefertari and the temples of Abu Simbel, offering a multi-sensory exploration of these historic sites.

“I am happy to announce that Ramses and the Gold of the Pharaohs, will be coming to Japan for the very first time,” said former Egyptian Minister of Antiquities and notable Egyptian archaeologist, Dr. Zahi Hawass. “This exhibition will tell us the amazing story of this great king who was a family man; a warrior; a master builder and a formidable leader who signed the world’s oldest peace treaty with the Hittites. This exhibition full of gold, silver and many great artefacts that have never left Egypt before, will definitely captivate the hearts of all visitors.”

“NEON is thrilled to bring Ramses and the Gold of the Pharaohs to Japan, marking the very first Asian stop for this amazing experience of immense historical value. We would like to express our gratitude to the government of Egypt for entrusting their national artefacts to us and also to our esteemed partners Itochu Property Development and Sankei Building for venturing alongside with us on this exciting journey,” added Mr. Ron Tan, Executive Chairman & Group CEO of NEON. “With our combined expertise and resources, we are poised to deliver unparalleled immersive experiences that will captivate audiences and elevate the entertainment landscape in Japan and beyond.”

In October, NEON revealed a strategic partnership with Itochu Property Development, Ltd. and Sankei Building Co., Ltd., leading to the creation of NEON Japan K.K., a subsidiary partially owned by these joint venture partners. This move is aimed at leading innovative and culturally attuned experiential entertainment initiatives in the Japanese market.

To reinforce its commitment to collaborative governance and local expertise utilization, NEON Japan has established a 5-member Board of Directors and is assembling a skilled team from various business and functional sectors, including representatives from Itochu and Sankei Building. This team is poised to drive synergistic opportunities and accelerate NEON’s growth in Japan.

Mr. Matsu, president of ITOCHU Property Development, commented, “We will plan various experiences around the IP partnerships under NEON to create a new type of experiential entertainment for visitors to enjoy.”

President Iijima of The Sankei Building Co., Ltd. said, “We hope to deliver excitement to many people through NEON by utilizing the network of the media group (Fuji Sankei Group).”

NEON is also launching advanced entertainment technologies, such as animatronics, in partnership with local entities to provide innovative and engaging experiences throughout Japan. In pursuit of growth and innovation, NEON is eager to collaborate with Japanese IP owners to create new intellectual properties designed for global audiences, thereby promoting Japan’s cultural heritage internationally.

As NEON Japan starts to form its operational team, it will leverage the expertise of its shareholders and local specialists to ensure a smooth and effective initiation of its activities.

Supported by its collaboration with Itochu Property Development, Ltd. and Sankei Building Co., Ltd., the NEON Group is dedicated to its mission of offering immersive experiences that captivate and inspire audiences globally. It is enthusiastic about the future prospects as it broadens its footprint in Japan
