Delays hit the eagerly awaited India-Sri Lanka ferry service launch, now rescheduled for May 17th due to delivery and regulatory setbacks.
The anticipated commencement of ferry operations between Kankesanthurai, Sri Lanka, and Nagapattinam, India, scheduled for May 13, has been postponed. This delay, announced by IndSri Ferry Service Pvt. Ltd., stems from a setback in the ferry’s delivery and necessary regulatory approvals that have yet to be finalized.
The ferry, named ‘Sivagangai’, is now slated to begin service on May 17. Company officials have received assurances from regulatory authorities that all required legal certifications will be in place in time for the new start date.
Passengers who had reservations between May 13 and May 16 will have their bookings automatically transferred to May 17. Additionally, customers have the option to reschedule their trip for a later date beyond May 17, 2024.
The Managing Director has also made provisions for travelers wishing to cancel their bookings. Affected customers are encouraged to contact the company at customer.care@sailindsri.com to arrange for a prompt and full reimbursement, as stated by the company.
