Air Malta Ceases Operations After 50 Years of Flight

VALLETTA, Malta — Air Malta, the national airline of Malta, will today cease operations after 50 years of flight.

Air Malta Chairman Prof. Philip von Brockdorff expressed his gratitude to the dedicated individuals who have contributed to the services provided by the airline throughout the past half a century.

"Today, as we bid farewell to Air Malta, I extend my sincerest thanks to all the flight deck crew, cabin crew, engineers, ground staff, technical support, operations personnel, head office staff, and individuals in various interlinked roles who have been an integral part of the airline’s journey," said Prof. von Brockdorff.

Air Malta has been the national carrier and a key player in connecting the

Maltese islands to the rest of the world. The airline has played a vital role

in promoting tourism, facilitating business travel, and fostering cultural exchange.

Prof. von Brockdorff also expressed his gratitude to the past Chairpersons of Air Malta. They have all been instrumental in one way or another to the operations of the national airline.

While bidding farewell to Air Malta, the Chairman also referred to the new airline company. "From tomorrow, the new national airline, KM Malta Airlines, will proudly carry the Maltese flag in our skies," he stated.

KM Malta Airlines is set to take over as the flag bearer for Malta, continuing the country's rich aviation heritage. With a firm commitment to excellence, KM Malta Airlines aims to provide exceptional service, connectivity, and a seamless travel experience for passengers.

As Air Malta concludes its operations, the airline leaves behind a remarkable legacy and a profound impact on the Maltese aviation industry.
